From Oregon, USA To The Global Leader In High Temperature Paint
FORREST Technical Coatings was founded on the ambition to be the best technical coatings laboratory in the Pacific Northwest.
“I wanted to be known as the company who could create products when no one else could or would,” founder Scott Forrest says of the company he founded in 1973.
Scott and early employees worked with small manufacturers to find unique solutions to their coatings challenges. Forrest’s reputation as the problem solvers of paint grew as they custom formulated products that larger paint companies wouldn’t or couldn’t.
Finding a Niche in High Temperature Paint with Stove Bright®
In 1979, Oregon was home to over 25 woodstove manufacturers. FORREST worked with these manufacturers and became known as the high temperature paint supplier for the regional woodstove industry. One of the manufacturers requested a colour other than black to help their woodstove standout in New Orleans at the Hearth, Patio, and Barbeque Association’s annual exhibition for the hearth industry. Forrest made them Metallic Brown Stove Bright® High Temperature Paint. Due to that stove’s popularity, the next year the theme of the show was “Glass, Brass, and Colours,” and FORREST had developed over 30 new colours for stove manufacturers.
Expanding Stove Bright® to Europe
FORREST’s first partnership in Europe was with UK-based CalFire, who continues to distribute Stove Bright® products throughout the UK.
